Psst. Hey Buddy, Wanna Buy An Automotive Proving Grounds?

How cool would this be: your own 7.5 mile paved oval track, plus your own 4.5 mile road course, plus accompany motocross and supercross tracks? Put it in the middle of nowhere, so neighbors can’t complain about unrestricted exhausts at high RPM at all hours of the day and night. Put it on about 3,800 acres of land, surrounded by a military style security fence, and throw in roughly 30,000 square feet of office and warehouse space that can be easily converted to residential space. If I had the money, you could color me gone tomorrow. [Read more...]

AT&T Makes Documentary About Texting & Driving

AT&T decided to launch a campaign against texting and driving. They made a ten minute documentary about certain text messages that have massively changed lives.

One young man was driving his truck and texting with his girlfriend in the passenger seat when she let out a scream. He then hit a bicyclist who died at the scene.

They also interview a young girl who had sent her sister a text that said “yeah”. Her sister was driving at the time, opened up the text and flipped her truck.

First Chevy Volt Auctioned For $225K

The very first Chevy Volt left the plant in Michigan and headed straight to auction. Do you think GM Motors wants to soak up the electric car glory? Well, this one is all for charity, folks.

The very first Volt for sale sold for a whopping $225,000. It sports VIN BU100002 and comes with a not-so-cheap 240-volt home charging station. The money is going to the Detroit Public School Foundation that supports science, math, technology and engineering.

Porsche Beats Mini, Mini Still Wins!

If you’ve been living in a cave or in a medically induced coma for the past month, there’s a chance you haven’t heard about Mini’s throwdown on Porsche. In early June, Jim McDowell, president of Mini USA, challenged Porsche to a “race” at “Road Atlanta”. Up for grabs, aside from bragging rights, were t-shirts saying “Mini beat Porsche” or “Porsche beat Mini”. It was all in good fun, designed to bring Mini the media exposure they’d been lacking over the past 18 months. Porsche, in typical Teutonic fashion, responded with a tersely worded statement that really said, “Kiss my ass, Scheisskopf. Porsche doesn’t do publicity stunts.”

Hyundai Top Gear Spoof Ads

Proof That SOME Automakers Still Have a Sense of Humor

Not since Mini challenged Porsche to a race has anything this funny happened at the hands of an automaker. Porsche may be too ‘German’ to get into the absurd spirit of fun, but not Hyundai apparently! In a bizarre and pleasant move by Hyundai of South Africa, they made a series of Top Gear spoof commercials called ‘Top Deer’ with the tagline ‘Made For Humans’ it’s actually pretty funny, for a relatively uptight automaker that lives under a constant state of ‘Cold War’ (They’re South Korean for those who didn’t know).

The Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 2010: What It Means To You

Like the old cliche goes, be careful what you wish for, since you just may get it. In the wake of the Toyota unintended acceleration media circus, our fearless leaders have hammered out legislation to make our roads safer, at the expense of driving enjoyment. Make no mistake about it; the Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 2010 will get passed, and there isn’t a damn thing you can do about it. Since we’re too lazy and short-sighted to address what really needs fixing (driver training and education), the Feds will instead mandate technology that is expensive, unproven and impossible to implement. We’ll fine non-compliant companies so badly that they’ll withdraw from the U.S. market entirely, taking thousands of irreplaceable jobs with them. Welcome to the brave new world of Government Motors, where the entry price for an economy car will soon be in the mid $20,000s.

MotoCzysz E1pc Hits the Isle of Man TT Zero and Wins!

MotoCzysz 2009 E1pc

Congratulations to MotoCzysz!

First off, let me say from me and the whole MajesticSpeed.com staff, a heart felt Congratulations! Pilot Mark Miller and the MotoCzysz (pronounced Motosizz) from Portland Oregon destroyed the TT Zero today in their 2010 E1pc Prototype. They took the honors at the Isle of Man TT Zero with an average speed of Holy Shit! (96.82 mph overall average) over the 37.7 mile psychotic road course of the TT (Tourist Trophy for you nOObs).

Quite frankly, with the amount of balls it takes to race the TT now a days, I’m not even sure how Mr. Miller can sit down on that beast of a bike. I’m sure the folks at MotoCzysz are damn glad he did though! Once again, congratulations! You all sure as hell earned it.
